"MUSIC TO THE EYES" FUNDRAISER...A CRUCIAL ONE
You may be aware that the next school year may bring several financial challenges in both the school district and in the orchestra program at Seven Lakes. Not only will the program grow much larger and therefore require more daily assistance with the student growth, but we will also require more instrument storage (we ran out of lockers this year with 150 students in the program) in the orchestra room. We also have to consider the cost of next year's out-of-state Spring Trip.
To alleviate some of the burden we hope that our last fundraiser for the 2010-2011 year will be a success. "Music to the Eyes," a violin art fundraiser that will showcase local and student artist work. This inventive and original fundraiser raffles off chances to win beautifully-painted violins. You WANT to own these beautiful violins! YOUR HELP IS CRUCIAL! Please help us advertise and purchase raffle tickets to the Music to the Eyes Art Violin Raffle. You can forward this information and our facebook link to your family, friends, and work mates. The violins will be raffled off following the concert on May 13th and you do not need to be present to win.
Please visit our website at http://www.musictotheeyes.org to see the violins and buy tickets, or check out the attachment. You can download order forms and/or purchase raffle tickets through PayPal. I have attached a copy of the order form. Please feel free to print out and/or pass along. We also have informational cards that are available for you to take to your work place and/or hand out to friends and family. If you would like some informational cards or have any questions, please email Lauren Waggoner, Music to the Eyes Chair, at lgw_london@yahoo.com
FINAL CONCERT
All students will perform repertoire from their recent UIL Contests on Friday, May 13th. Hear our award-winning orchestras at 7p...the concert is FREE! Call time for all Camerata, Cambiata, and Sinfonia is 6:30p in the Orchestra Room. Philharmonia will meet onstage at 6:15p. ALL students will need to bring a change of clothes because following the stage take-down, ALL STUDENTS MUST TURN IN THEIR UNIFORMS THAT NIGHT. Failure to do so will cause your record to be unclear. Join us afterwards in the Freshman Cafeteria for our Informal Banquet for cake and ice cream, mock awards, the Senior Roast, and our year in review! It's fun and free!! Please bring a change of clothes so that you can enjoy the Informal Banquet. WORK CREW: will meet on Friday, May 13th at 3:30p to set-up the stage and will take down the stage immediately after the concert.
FINALS/AUDITIONS
...will take place for the 2011-2012 school year 5/16-5/23. Students were given information about their audition in April, and material for the final exam has been prepared since September. Students have signed up for a time slot and should be prepared for scales, their prepared piece, and for pianists, sight-reading. All students should leave the orchestra room prior to 3p to extend privacy and courtesy to our students. As a reminder, JH auditions will take place starting next week on the 10th through the 16th.
CAMPALOTTA CANCELLED
Due to budget cuts, Campalotta (summer camp for SL Ork members) have been cut until further notice
AREA/STATE...NEXT YEAR
Next year's All-Region/Area, and All-State hopefuls should start taking a look at the etudes. Region hopefuls should realize that the All-State etude IS the Region etude for our Region. Area and State hopefuls should try to learn the etudes over the summer so that the crucial excerpts can be learned in the Fall, when they are released. Buy the books and start learning the etudes. Good luck to you all!
